Bank of England Governor Mervyn King, who has always shown a fondness for the odd weather-related metaphor, is on excellent form as he warns of the Eurozone’s “black cloud of uncertainty”.
As I unfurl the umbrella of economic forecasting, I look up to the leaden skies of recession and think that the whole economy would function better if the basic unit of fiscal measurement was one-day changed from the metaphor to the pound sterling.
Let’s have some numbers for a change, Merv!
Those ever-closing isobars of debt will doubtless soon result in a maelstrom of further borrowing and Quantitative Easing.
